Challenge Consultancy & Training Ltd has been operating since 2009, providing specialist consultancy for families, charities, local authorities and businesses for children and adults with autism, learning disability, mental health conditions and complex needs. Specialist consultancy areas are Personal, Health and Social Education, Sex and Relationship Education and complex needs behaviour management strategies. Through this service, a gap in provision has been identified. This is to provide a longer term support service with suitably trained staff to children and adults currently using the CCT service and also to extend this to the wider community. This will include supporting with behaviour strategies, independent living skills support, short breaks, sitting services, companionship, further education and work support with associated personal care provision.
Aside from providing specialist support services to children and adults with autism and associated complex needs, the Community Enablement Team also have a vested interest in extending the service to provide superior domiciliary care across the age range.
The purpose of CCT Community Enablement Team is to provide:
- A specialist and unique community care service to increase the life choices of children and vulnerable adults.
- A professional yet personal service to individuals and their families.
- A training centre for Challenge’s staff team to enable them to work and progress to best of their ability.
- A respected and valued staff and management base on which to grow
CCT Community Enablement Team will provide a specialist service within the community to its identified population. The service will be specialist because the staff will be trained to work with the service users as per their needs. There will be staff trained specifically to work with children and they will hold at least two years experience in this field. Equally there will be staff trained specifically to work with adults and they will hold at least two years experience in this field. Once the business has developed a strong core staffing there may be an opportunity to take on less experienced staff with a view to train them within a competent and stable team. The training will essentially be delivered in house with external support from Vision West Notts College, whom CCT has established links.
CCT Community Enablement Team will only agree contracts that suit the needs of the individual service user, promoting a minimum of a one hour call. This is because CET believe that anything less than one hour will not allow sufficient time for the service user to maintain their dignity and choice about the support they receive. The individual needs to remain in the centre of the provision at all times.
